Bangkok Sunset over the Temple of Dawn

The most suggestive view of Bangkok is the Wat Arun temple - the Temple of Dawn. It is however at sunset that it becomes exquisitely illuminated.

Symbol of Bangkok and emblem of Thai ancient spirituality, the Wat Arun is a Buddhist temple and the favourite subject of postcards. It is located in the Thonburi district on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, in the heart of the city.

It is called Temple of Dawn and named afterAruna, the IndianGodof Dawn. Despite its name, however, it displays the bright and impressive colours for which it is famous for, at sunset, when it seems to become inflamed with light.

It is the most visited monument in the city, the iconic symbol of Bangkok and the most coveted location to visit.

Here’s how to enjoy it – either by boat, from your bedroom, sipping a cocktail or comfortably dining at the restaurant.
